Sterling Banquet Halls

📍 Northwest Houston / Pasadena

Sterling operates three banquet halls across the Houston area (Sam Houston Pkwy, Bingle Rd, and Pasadena) with large dance floors and on-site coordination. They offer customizable packages including catering, decor, DJ, and photography, and are a popular choice for quinceañeras and weddings.

Sterling Banquet Halls isn’t one venue — it’s a small local chain with three locations across the Houston area: Venue #1 at 5475 West Sam Houston Pkwy N (two separate rooms, “Hall A” and “Hall B,” plus an indoor chapel), Venue #2 at 5701 Bingle Rd, and Venue #3 at 116 Fairmont Pkwy in Pasadena. The business says it hosts over 600 events a year for more than 100,000 guests combined, and its main pitch is an all-inclusive model with pricing published openly by guest count and day of the week — a level of transparency many Houston halls skip in favor of “call for a quote.”

What the package includes

The base package is the same at all three locations: the hall for 8 hours (until 2 a.m.), plus 3 extra hours of early access for setup, for 11 total hours on site. It covers tables that seat 10 each, Chiavari chairs with sashes, linens, centerpieces, napkins and water goblets; a fully decorated hall and stage (usable for the ceremony, DJ, band, or photos); a drink/soda station with real glassware — no disposables; unlimited non-alcoholic drinks (Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, iced tea, coffee, lemonade) for the full 8 hours; two waiters; a full-size dance floor; access to the on-site kitchen; setup of the cake, head, gift, and sign-in tables; a bridal suite and a groom’s suite; and free parking.

One thing that sets Sterling apart: it’s a BYOB venue. Per its FAQ page, there are no alcohol restrictions and no corkage fee — you can bring your own alcoholic beverages at no extra charge, though if alcohol is served you’re required to add a bartender and a security officer (the site lists those at $150-$200 for the bartender and $200-$250 for security, with slightly different figures depending on whether you check the FAQ page or the pricing page).

Pricing

Rates depend on which hall you book and swing significantly by day. At Venue #1, Hall A (up to 200 guests): weekday (Monday-Thursday) pricing runs $2,125 to $2,625; Friday $3,250 to $4,250; Saturday $4,250 to $5,250; Sunday $3,000 to $4,000. Hall B (up to 300 guests) costs somewhat more: $2,375 to $3,375 on weekdays, climbing to $5,750-$7,750 on Saturdays depending on guest count.

Venue #2 (ballroom up to 250 guests, chapel up to 220) and Venue #3 (grand ballroom up to 400 guests, in Pasadena) use a different pricing structure: weekday rates already build in a 50% discount (starting at $1,625 for up to 100 guests, up to $3,125 for 375-400 guests), Friday saves $1,000 off Saturday’s base rate (starting at $2,250), Saturday is the base price (starting at $3,250), and Sunday saves $1,250 (starting at $2,000).

Renting the chapel for a ceremony runs $700 at Venue #1 and $500 at Venue #2 (includes decorated chapel, sound system, backdrop and chairs); a same-room ceremony runs $350. Other published add-ons: wedding rehearsal $200 (2 hours), wireless mic/PA system $200, extra catering $15/person, uplighting $100, DJ starting at $700, photo booth starting at $350, chocolate fountain starting at $400-500, and an extra waiter at $150. Booking a date requires a $500-$1,000 deposit, with the balance split into monthly payments up to the event; tax and a service charge apply on top (the site doesn’t publish the exact percentage).

In-house catering starts at $15 per person per entrée (includes salad, two sides, and dinner rolls), with menus spanning traditional American and Italian dishes to Mexican options like carnitas and fajitas.

Who it’s a good fit for

Sterling suits families who want price transparency before ever picking up the phone and flexibility to work around a tight budget: the gap between a Saturday event and a weekday one can top $1,000, which matters if your quinceañera can move to a Friday or Sunday. It’s also appealing if you’d rather control alcohol costs by bringing your own. WeddingWire reviews (64 reviews, overall rating 4.4-4.6 out of 5, with a 4.6 for “value”) frequently mention attentive waitstaff and hot, tasty food at a competitive price. One thing to weigh: Yelp reviews of the Bingle Rd location note it sits in a small strip center with limited parking for larger events (175-225 guests), while the Sam Houston Pkwy location gets praised for ample parking.
